Dear readers,

paper is everywhere. Despite technology such as the Internet and E-Books, it is not going to go away. We need papers to roll cigarettes, papers to get permission to stay or to travel. We read newspapers. Paper is folded, sat on, read, undervalued, sexy, sculptured, thrown away, important, cut out, written on, fun, worn, controlling, priceless, art, stupid, useless, useful…

This edition of art in migration is about paper and even if some of the articles are not, they have been all printed on paper!
Paper stores collective memory for our society and carries the unconscious on the surface of the conscious paper. At the same time, it is a very fragile material, easy to tear, destroy, and burn. Paper fades and turns yellow with age. Apartmentsget flooded with deluges of paper.

For the upcoming election in Vienna, one paper will be important, the ballot paper. We would like to show how fragile the cohesion of society would become if it were only based on paper. Can this cohesion be strengthened and the emphasis on paper changed to other materials?
